The Army integrates the talents and skills of its military and civilian members to form a Total Army.About the Position: The Combined Security Transition Command - Afghanistan (CSTC-A) is a multinational military formation. Its primary role is the training and development of Afghan security forces like the Afghan National Army. CSTC-A is engaged in
the development of the Afghan National Army, by assisting in Ministerial development, creation of institutional and intermediate Commands and the training of tactical forces in order to create a professional Army and Air Corps capable to providing security within Afghanistan's borders and to collectively deliver a professional police force that will enhance the security of the Afghan people. This is a term position not to exceed 14 months. This position requires the employee to be on business travel 100% of the time to Afghanistan. This is a DoD Demonstration Project position. Under the Defense Authorization Act, personnel management demonstration programs are operating in numerous Army activities and various other organizations supported by Army civilian personnel centers. Under the streamlined personnel operations for demonstration projects, the familiar 15 General Schedule grade structure is replaced with broad pay bands that typically encompass a range of grades. For example, acquisition jobs in level NH-II of broad banding encompass the traditional GS-05 through GS-11 grades. Other initiatives under the demonstration projects include simplified classification, streamlined hiring process, and expanded developmental opportunities. Who May Apply: US Citizens .
