Performs the carpentry duties necessary to maintain in good repair building woodwork and equipment.
Principal Accountabilities:
Plan and lay out work from blueprints, drawings, models and verbal
instructions using a variety of carpenter�s hand tools, portable power
tools and standard measuring instruments
Make standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work
Select materials necessary for the work
Manufactures shipping containers from wooden materials in support of maintenance mission according to specs
Interprets sub-work orders from other divisions/departments for manufacturing of carpentry items
Inspects outgoing shipments to ensure that freight is securely braced and blocked, including the assembly of braces
Support overflow tasks of material coordinators assigned to section
Knowledge & Skills:
Must be able to keep assigned area clean in accordance with company policies, regulations and safety
Must comply with all federal laws and DoD regulations regarding specifications for non-manufactured wood products
Basic knowledge of maintenance requirements
Ability to read and interpret blueprints
Basic math skills are necessary
Basic knowledge of military equipment
Understand the packaging and preservation of military materials
Knowledge of Fed Log, Special Packaging Instructions (SPI) and Specs
Must be able to interact professionally with customers and tradesmen
Must pass English proficiency test
Physical Requirements:
Living
and working conditions at the assignment location could be remote and
uncomfortable. Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous
conditions. Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and
under adverse conditions.
Experience:
Typically,
a minimum of four (4) years experience in carpentry. Requires well
rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal
apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
