Telecom Systems Integrator - Iraq

Job Description: Position requires deployment to Baghdad, Iraq as part of a two person team to install, test and training users on the Lawful Intercept system. The candidate will be responsible for interacting with the leadership of the government of Iraq and with the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) operators. The candidate will have overall responsibility to ensure the Lawful Intercept system is installed and configured properly, with a specific emphasis on the monitoring center and the tasking terminals. This person will also be responsible for developing and implementing two training plans, one to ensure that Iraqi operators know how to use the system and the other to ensure Iraqi engineers know how to maintain, troubleshoot and correct any malfunctions with the system. Duty schedule will be 6 days per week / twelve hours a day. Deployment period will be 1 year - 4.5 months plus a possible extension. Required Skills:
  • One year of experience in project management including presenting project status briefings and updates on a regular basis.
  • Good written and oral communication skills with experience preparing and presenting project status on a regular (monthly) basis.
  • Proven experience in system integration involving Windows computers, telecommunications equipment and Fast Ethernet / Gigabit Ethernet.
  • Proven experience performing installing, integrating and supporting Lawful Intercept systems.
  • Telecommunications experience involving electrical E1, Electrical E3 circuits.
  • Proven ability to work alone and in small teams to solve integration problems in environments with little or no external tech support available.
  • At least 8 years telecommunications experience and 5 years experience working with Lawful Intercept Systems.
  • At least one year experience with Windows system management.
  • Proven ability to work with new cultures and social environments.
Desired Skills:
  • Arabic oral and written skills highly desired.
  • Sybase experience
  • Experience developing and presenting training materials desirable.
  • Prior deployment experience to the Middle East desired.
  • Proven ability to work long hours for an extended period
  • Telecommunications experience using STM-1 and electrical/optical Gigabit Ethernet / Fast Ethernet.
  • Knowledge of basic Cisco IOS and Cisco switch management.
