Job Summary:
Installs, services and repairs environmental-control systems in commercial establishments, utilizing knowledge of refrigeration theory, pipefitting and structural layout.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Participate in the installation, maintenance, modification, overhaul, service and repair of air conditioning and refrigeration systems and equipment.
  • Mounts compressor and condenser units on platform or floor, using hand tools, following blueprints or engineering specifications.
  • Fabricates, assembles and installs ductwork and chassis parts, using portable metalworking tools and welding equipment.
  • Connects motors, compressors, temperature controls, humidity controls and circulating ventilation fans to control panels and connects control panels to power source.
  • May install, repair and service air conditioners, ranging from fifteen to twenty tons cooling capacity, in warehouses and small factory buildings.
  • Other related duties as required.

    Knowledge & Skills:

    Advanced knowledge in the principles of refrigeration, heating and air handling. Knowledge and skill in hand tools and diagnostic equipment employed in maintenance and repair. Ability to read and interpret documents such as schematics, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manual.

    Physical Requirements:

    Living and working conditions at the assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable. Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions. Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions.

    Experience:

    Two (2) years of technical training in the principles of refrigeration, heating and air handling. Current Journeyman�s licensing in Heating and Air Conditioning or equivalent required. Candidate must possess an EPA Section 608 Universal Certification or verifiable host country certification and/or license in Freon Recovery/Recycling. Typically, three (3) to five (5) years of journeyman's experience in the installation, maintenance and/or repair of air conditioning, air handling, chilled water distribution systems and controls working from blueprints, schematics, designs and/or sketches is required.

    Education:

    High School Diploma or equivalent.
